I'm allergic to almost every kind of metal especially nickel, and these gave me almost no irritation. I used a eco-friendly clear nail polish on the posts and the parts that touch my skin, and I can now wear them every day with NO problems at all. I've even slept in them. They're so comfortable you forget you're wearing them! And the real test is, Will my hair get tangled in the hoop? My hair has NEVER tangled in these. LOVE them! They're also a good size for young girls and teens.
